Reinventing Your Business: Part IV

This week we’re discussing how to reinvent your business by using the word Renew as an acronym. The second E stands for Equipping your team and community for the changes to come.

Taking a new direction for your business can be difficult and frightening. It requires a team that has the resources and encouragement to move forward. The change needs to be properly furnished.

When Nehemiah was rebuilding the decayed Jerusalem, he learned that the Israelites were unable to continue working due to indebtedness to their own leaders. In Nehemiah 5:11, Nehemiah said to their creditors, “Please, give back to them this very day their fields, their vineyards, their olive groves and their houses.

Nehemiah understood that change starts with people. Those in charge of executing the business’s mission are the first area that needs support. So, when reinventing your business, you need to equip your team. A change in a business requires a change in the staff practices.

Several of the most critical areas are regular and effective communication, the resources necessary to properly implement the new strategy, and possibly the realignment of goals. Your staff need instruction, method, and an end goal to set in motion a revamped organization.

Questions for Reflection

  • How are your employees or colleagues doing? Are they able to complete their work? Are they aware of your plans for change? What are their suggestions on new procedures?
  • What employees have been at your business the longest or have the most experience in your field? What gaps could they fill? How might you delegate the responsibility of your reinventing of your business?
