HOMEMuestra
Together we’re learning to engage in practices and rhythms that Jesus did during His time on earth to be at home with the heavenly Father. Today, the practice we’re modeling after Jesus is service.
Jesus came to earth not to be served, but to serve. And we can live that way, too.
An important truth to remember is that not every act that could be done as a discipline needs to be done as a discipline. We engage in them for character change and to serve and honor the Lord. If you find yourself in a position of power, this might be a great practice for you to exercise. And if you find yourself often readily in a posture of service, you may focus on another discipline.
So, if and when we choose to serve… How do we do it? It’s really simple: just look around and do whatever is needed. Look for someone who could use help and then go help them. Do things not for your own gain but to make someone else’s life better.
As you serve, remember to be in the fellowship of your heavenly Father. With him, you can be at home.
Today’s invitation:
Look for someone who needs help and commit yourself in service. Notice someone who needs you. Be there to take action in a way that has zero personal benefit. And do it all with a glad heart.
