Parasha Minute: Genesis / BreisheetMuestra
"Securing the Line"
The blessing spoken on Rivkah (Rebecca) was a unique benediction, echoing the blessing given to Sarah. As a divine prophecy, it spoke of Rebecca’s descendants, predicting that she would be the matriarch of a rising nation. But Rebecca had to give her consent. The journey to Isaac’s tents was many days' journey by camel caravan. That took faith! Yet Rebecca stepped up and her obedience put God’s plan in motion. Stepping into Sarah’s tent with Isaac was symbolic for Rebecca taking her place as matriarch. Points to Ponder: God sees into a future that we can only guess at. Doing our part requires faith, even though we only see a small part of the plan at a time.
