Follow the Star: Discover the Heart of JesusMuestra
In Matthew chapter one, Joseph contemplates taking Mary as his wife to find out that Mary is pregnant. Mary's pregnancy was a difficult situation because Mary stood no chance of giving a reasonable explanation to Joseph; she was not in the position to defend herself. God sends an angel to deliver a message about Mary's innocence to Joseph. God does two things here: defends Mary and introduces Jesus.
We see throughout history that God defends His people when it matters most. This message was important for Joseph; it reminded us that we could not afford any thought that didn't align with God's words. God will defend His children when it matters. God will not bother to exonerate his children in matters that are not necessary in his eyes. Most likely, you have been misunderstood when you meant no harm. Know that you can trust God to exonerate you if it is a matter that calls for His intervention. God will not forsake the godly.
The angel introduces Jesus to his earthly father by telling him the purpose for His coming to the earth - salvation from sin. This is something we must seriously consider. The purpose of Christ's coming is salvation from sin. Whoever wants to receive Jesus must desire to be saved from sin. Whoever does not choose freedom from sin has not accepted Jesus. Let us ponder the demands of receiving the ministry of Jesus Christ - salvation from sin.
Reflection Question:
Am I trusting God to defend me in a matter that I cannot protect myself? Have I given careful thought to receiving the ministry of Jesus?
Prayer:
Father, please help me trust in you to defend me where I cannot protect myself and help me receive the ministry of Jesus.
