Answer the Call

Bryan Dench

Ready:

“‘Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.’ But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?’ God answered, ‘I will be with you. And this is your sign that I am the one who has sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God at this very mountain.’” Exodus 3:10-12

Set:

When God calls us to action, we may not be ready or feel able to respond to His call. Just like Moses, when God called him to go lead God’s people out of Egypt, we may be reluctant and have questions about whether we can do what God asks. Moses expressed his fear, and God responded, “I will be with you.” What more could we ask? If God is with us, is there anything we cannot do? God may call you to try something you’re afraid of, to strive for new skills or strength in your sport, or to be a better teammate, coach, or leader. God may ask you to befriend the teammate nobody else likes. God may call you to own up to a rule violation. God at times puts in our paths the chance to honor Him, to obey Him, and above all to TRUST He will be with us and give us what we need. When He does, be like Moses. Answer the call. Give 100% to God.

Go:

1. Has God ever asked you to trust Him to take on something that was hard or that you felt was beyond you?

2. What did you do?

3. Could you have trusted God more? How can you be sure to trust Him the next time?

Workout:

  • Philippians 4:13
  • Proverbs 3:5-7

Overtime:

“Help me, Lord, to answer when You call me to trust You. Help me to do what is right and pleasing in Your sight, and to know that You are with me, whatever the cost.”
