DÍA 10 DE 31

Check Your Direction

Rex Stump

Ready:

“…God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed." John 3:19-20

Set:

Imagine my young son and me playing catch with a baseball in the yard. He throws me the ball, off-line a few feet, and I have to chase after it. I tell him, “You can do better than that.” He replies, “You are too far away, move in closer.” So, I move in closer, but again he throws the ball off-line. He says, “You are still too far away!” I move in closer but he continues to throw the ball off-target. I finally move right in front of him, but the ball goes in the other direction. What is the problem? It’s not the distance! The problem is his aim.

Jesus said the problem with mankind is that it is not merely the great distance between our behavior and God’s standards, it’s that we don’t go in the right direction. God is light, but people would rather aim at darkness and run to it, instead of the light.

We are condemned not merely because we fall short of God’s glorious standard of perfection; it’s also because we don’t even aim in the right direction. We don’t want God’s love and grace.

If we claim to love God, let’s make sure our aim and direction in life are toward His godly light! Check your aim. Check the direction you are going.

Go:

1. Do you love the light of God more than darkness?

2. Does your life aim at God’s direction?

Workout:

  • Proverbs 3:5-6
  • Psalm 119:58-60
  • Proverbs 14:2

Overtime:

“Heavenly Father, sometimes my aim is off and I’m not going in Your direction. Forgive me for being selfish. Show me in Your Word, speak to me, and direct me in a way that honors You. Amen.”
