Walking in Our Gifts

This week, we have taken time to look at the spiritual gifts of Scripture and how they glorify God and bless others.

We have framed it within the metaphor of the Body of Christ, with each of us serving as a “body part” with a specific God-given purpose and gifting to bless and strengthen the rest of the Body, and to receive the blessing and strength from others in their gifts.

We discussed that the best way to discover our spiritual gifts is similar to how we discovered our natural gifts: by learning about them and trying them out, we can trust that God’s favor will be apparent, and it will become clear where the Spirit has gifted us and, just as importantly, where He has not.

Where we are not gifted, we need not despair; we simply lean on the gifts of others in the Body who have the giftings that we lack.

When we all do this, all the gifts are covered, and everyone is mutually blessed and strengthened through the various gifts, as God is glorified through His Body.

We have briefly discussed “The Motivational Gifts” (Romans 12:4-8), “The Manifestation Gifts” (1 Corinthians 12:7-11), “The Five-Fold Gifts”(Ephesians 4:11-13), and various “Miscellaneous Gifts” found throughout the Bible. No gift listed is better than any other; all are crucial to the ministry of the Church, and all depend upon the other different “body parts” for a flourishing Body.

As we end our week, allow me to encourage men to walk in their spiritual giftings with confidence and authority, letting God use you to bless others as you are faithful to use your gifts and as He is faithful to work through them.

And if you are still unsure where your giftings are, let me encourage you to explore deeper the ones that stuck out to you this week and to begin to pray into these things with others you trust and, when you are ready, to test them out and see where God moves as you are faithful to step out.

As we walk out into our spiritual giftings, we put on "love" in all that we do, serving others first, and emphasizing ourselves less.

God gifts His Church to glorify Himself and bless others around us. Men of God seek out their giftings and selflessly use them to this end.

Prayer: Father, thank You for this week! Give me the grace to know how You have gifted me, and use me to glorify Your Name and bless those around me! Amen.
