Peace No Matter WhatSample

Peace No Matter What

DAY 2 OF 3

Peace in Uncertainty

I went through a season of unanswered prayers for almost a decade. Perhaps you can relate. At times it felt like being trapped in a dark place, unable to move forward.

I cried in bathrooms, asked God questions, and experienced confusion and frustration. Yet over time, I began to experience “God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand” (Phil. 4:7 NLT).

It’s easy to think peace is something that simply descends on us the first time we ask for God’s help. But in my experience, it’s something we fight for over and over. Thankfully, Paul gives us a battle plan.

"Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done" (Phil. 4:6). Then repeat, repeat, repeat.

Is this easy? Absolutely not. Will there be times when we worry, even feel despair? Yes, we are human, after all. Will we experience resistance? Every day.

When people asked me how I was doing, I started saying, “I have a peace about it.” If they looked at me with disbelief, I’d add, “It’s not a cliché. It’s the kind of peace that comes after war.”

If you have to fight for peace, nothing is wrong with your faith. There is peace that comes from the absence of all pain or difficulty. But there is a deeper, more powerful peace that comes after the heat of battle. Only warriors know this kind of peace. Fight on.

God, when peace requires a battle, give me the strength to fight. Amen.

How have you fought for peace?
