Multiplying the Gospel // Gospel X - Multiplying the MessageSample
The parable of the seed tells you about the different soils the seed can fall on and what impact it will have. Whereas the seed is the gospel, the soils are representative for the receptiveness of the gospel.
There is the path: the gospel is told, people hear it but they don’t pay attention to it and it is forgotten immediately. There is the rocky soil: the gospel is told, people hear it and take it to heart, but then they experience challenges and troubles in their life and they forget about it again. There are the thorns: the gospel is told, people hear it and are open to it, but their sorrows and different needs lead to the gospel being abandoned again. Then there is the good soil: the gospel is told, people hear it, take it to heart and live by it. Their lives are changed and they in turn are fruitful.
When talking about this parable, Christians often want to focus to sow the gospel to “good soil people” only. But this is a misreading of the parable. Jesus is the sower and he sows abundantly. Only some of his seeds fall onto good soil. So, instead of focusing on the type of soil, this parable is about sowing abundantly. When Jesus told his followers to share the gospel, he does not say, to share the gospel with some few, but to share the gospel to whoever might hear it. This parable is about sharing the gospel widely. Statistically speaking, only every 4th seed will yield any fruit. Thus, on average, you need to share the gospel with four people to experience that one of those accepts it. This is obviously not a rule, but it gives you an indication: to see people coming to faith, the gospel needs to be shared abundantly.
How often do you share the gospel?
How often have you experience someone accepting the gospel after you shared it?
Have you experience the different soils when you shared the gospel?
How was it?

About this Plan
Jesus left the church the vision of a movement when he challenged us to reproduce from our own Jerusalem into “Judea, Samaria and the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8). For us to see a movement, we need every Christ follower to adopt Jesus' personal mission to “seek and save the lost.” (Luke 19:10). Evangelism is core to the mission of Jesus and essential to accomplishing his vision. This plan is part of a 5 week journey around the topic of Gospel X - Multiplying the Gospel
