Day 17: God Cares for Your Every Need
I want to share a personal story with you, one that has deeply impacted my understanding of God’s faithfulness. Years ago, when Leah and I first got married, I was serving as the executive pastor at a small country church. It was a humbling season—we didn’t have much to live on and were learning to trust God for our daily needs in ways we’d never had to before.
One Monday morning—our usual grocery shopping day—Leah said to me, “Let’s go shopping.” I looked at her and said, “I have nothing in the account—it looks like God wants us to fast.” As those words left my mouth, I immediately felt convicted. While fasting is a spiritual discipline, I knew deep down that God would never “force” His children into a fast due to lack. Still, the reality of our situation weighed heavily on me, and I didn’t see a way forward.
Leah, ever steadfast in her faith, calmly responded, “I believe God cares about every little detail of our lives.” Her words brought both conviction and hope. She reminded me of the simple truth that God is not just aware of our needs—He is more than able to meet them.
Not five minutes later, Leah’s phone rang. It was a woman from the church—someone we had not yet met, as she was new to the congregation. She shared how she’d just been to the doctor and was advised to change her diet immediately. The remarkable part? Just before her appointment, she had done a bulk grocery shopping trip, filling her kitchen with food she could no longer eat. She told Leah, “I felt strongly that I should donate all these groceries to the pastor who preached last week (that was me!) and I have been calling everyone I know to get your number! Would you like to come pick them up?”
Leah and I didn’t hesitate. We rushed over to her house, and what we saw brought tears to our eyes. There were bags upon bags of groceries waiting for us—far more than we could have imagined. And these weren’t just basic items; they were from the “expensive” aisle, the kind of groceries I used to walk past because they were out of our budget!
That moment wasn’t just provision—it was a reminder of God’s intimate care. He didn’t just meet our needs; He exceeded them in a way that spoke directly to our hearts. It was a tangible demonstration of His love and faithfulness, and it changed the way I saw His provision forever.
Maybe today you’re facing a need that feels overwhelming. Perhaps you’re wondering how a situation will work out or where the resources will come from. Let me encourage you: God sees you. He knows what you’re going through, and He is already working behind the scenes. He has ways and means that you cannot imagine, and His provision is always on time.
Take time today to pray:
“Lord, thank You for being my Provider. I trust You to meet every need in my life. Help me to wait with faith, knowing that You see me, You care for me, and You are working on my behalf.”
God’s provision is personal. He knows your heart, your struggles, and your needs—and He is always faithful to provide. Trust Him to show up in ways that remind you of just how much He loves and cares for you.

About this Plan
Over the next 21 days, we are setting aside time to seek God intentionally—through fasting, prayer, and giving. Matthew 6 reminds us that these three practices draw us closer to the heart of God and position us to experience His faithfulness in extraordinary ways. Each day, we'll be walking with you through stories from Scripture, personal reflections, and encouragement for this journey. Take time to reflect, pray, and let God speak to you. We're believing that as we lean into this together, He will do above and beyond all we could ask or imagine.
