Have you ever had a friend that always has your back? The kind of friend that knows exactly what you need whenever you call? As Christians we have a friend who is just like that, but a million times greater. God tells us in His word that He is “close to those who are brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” These words are a promise: when life gets hard, He isn’t far-away. He’s right there with us as we experience hurt, confusion, or feelings of being overwhelmed.

Sometimes in life it can feel like no one understands what we’re going through. But we’ve been given scripture to remind us that God is always present and paying attention, even when we feel alone. He’s that friend who is always there to pick us up when we fall.

Here’s the cool part: not only are we given the gift of encouragement from God through scripture, but we have the opportunity to be His hands and feet here on Earth - we get to bring this encouragement to others. Whenever you think of someone who is going through a hard time, you can share Bible verses with them to encourage them and reassure them that they aren’t alone. Sometimes just a little bit of hope from a friend can make a BIG difference. When we reach out to others, we’re showing them God’s love on Earth, and living out the promise that He is “close to the brokenhearted.”
