Her Freedom Journey From Pornography: 6 Days of Ditching Lies and Embracing TruthSample
Day 1: The Battle of Truth and Lies
Read John 8:43–44. What does this passage tell you about the source of lies?
What are some lies Satan has spoken to you in the past?
The Bible is equally clear that Jesus Christ represents all truth. Jesus Himself said, “I am the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6). Did you get that? Jesus didn’t just say that He speaks truth but that He is truth.
Why do you think Jesus said, “I am the truth” not just “I speak truth”?
The battle between truth and lies is not just a war between two separate ways of thinking, but is rooted in who we will ultimately believe. Do we believe God or do we believe Satan? Satan is always looking for ways to reinforce lies. Why? Because he knows that when we believe lies, we are naturally separated from the truth of God’s Word and His love. Even though we have likely never personally met you, we are confident that your battle with pornography involves a battle between truth and lies.
In many ways, your growth and maturity as a godly woman is the ongoing exchange of lies for truth. This is why it is so important for you to spend time in God’s Word, nurture friendships with people who remind you of truth, and also why it may be important for you to be thoughtful about how your past impacts how you currently think about things.
Both of us are committed to this process in our own lives. That is why it is so important to find the root of the lies we believe. For me (Joy), the root lie I believed was that I was unloved, even unlovable. None of the things I ran to could fill the void in my heart to feel beautiful and loved. Unfortunately, I learned this the hard and painful way.
The only thing that could set me free from that lie was to cling to the truth of God’s love. He took my broken, lie-believing self and helped me realize that only He can heal me and love me the way I need to be loved.
Whatever lie or lies are at the root of your struggle, you have a Father who loves you. You have a Savior who died to set you free. God sent the Holy Spirit to help you recognize the lies you believe.
Read John 16:13. Who does this verse say will lead you into truth?
How does it make you feel to know that the Holy Spirit will lead you to truth?
Write a prayer, asking God over the next few days to show you specific lies you have been believing.

About this Plan
Beneath every sexual struggle is an undercurrent of lies. Lies might begin in your thoughts, but they don’t stay there. In time, they flow into your beliefs, emotions, and actions. Your freedom journey involves learning to discern the lies you believe about sexuality, about yourself, and about freedom and to confront those lies with the power of God’s truth.
