Being Bold

DAY 2 OF 7

Approach the throne of God with boldness

In Exodus, as God gives His people instructions for the construction of the temple, it’s clear very quickly that the details matter. There’s lots of details and it would be fair to say it can be a challenging section of the Bible to read because of it.

But the bird’s-eye view of this part of God’s Word is that God is acting to provide a way for Israel to be in His presence. The holy God makes a way that we can boldly approach Him and not perish. He doesn’t lower His standards to do this. He doesn’t close His eyes so He won’t be confronted by our lack of holiness. He gave Israel a way to make peace with Him through atonement, friendship, offerings, obedience, sacrifice, and His kindness.

When I read these details, it reminds me again how incredible it is that we can come before the throne of our holy, mighty and good God – and that we can do it with boldness, without fear and with complete confidence that our path has been made secure by the blood of Jesus.

The altar in the temple was the sign of all that had been sacrificed to make this relationship right. In the same way, as we look to the cross without shame, we see our great Saviour who allows us to approach the throne of God with boldness.
