People in the early Church did just about everything together! They listened to teachings, ate meals, prayed for one another, and met in each other's homes. As they did this, they grew in numbers daily.

Imagine inviting a few hundred (or even a thousand!) people over to your house and cooking a meal for them. Where would everyone sit? How would you prepare enough food? There’s no way you could pull it off all by yourself.

That’s why serving was so important to the early Church and still is today. There’s work to be done, and one person – or even a few people – can’t carry it all themselves. We all have skills that Jesus can use! When we all come together ready to use our individual skills and talents for a shared purpose, amazing things can happen.

Serving others not only helps you grow closer to God, but it also allows others to see God through you. What is a skill that you have that can serve God and others? Do you like hanging out with young kids? Playing with them and teaching them about Jesus? You could serve as a leader with kids at your church. Do you like making people feel welcome and greeting them with a smile? You could serve as a door greeter. Do you like working with computers? You could help with production! There are so many ways to use your gifts to help others.
