When One Person Says “Yes” to GodSample
The First Step to Saying ‘Yes!” to God
Hello, my friend, and welcome to Holy Week on A Miracle Every Day! As we move towards the sacred day of Easter, I am so excited to invite you to say “yes” to God. We are about to meet some amazing people, who all took the bold step of saying “yes” to God.
My wife and I just welcomed our first baby grand-daughter! In welcoming her into the world, we went and spent some time with our kids as they adjusted to a new life as parents. I have a whole new appreciation for the life of a parent: the lack of sleep, the constant attention, the never-ending concern, the diapers, the feeding, and the hard work are truly daunting. When you become a parent, you say “YES” to all of those commitments.
Can you imagine the “yes” Mary had to contemplate after the angel came and told her that she would be Mother of the Son of God? Amazing! Mary’s “yes” was to more than just parenting. It was also a “yes” to ridicule due to her relationship status, contempt within her family and culture, and ultimately, a “yes” to bringing about the salvation of the world through the death of her son. To all of this, and so much more, Mary said in Luke 1:38:
“‘I am the Lord’s servant,‘ Mary answered. ‘May your word to me be fulfilled.‘”
My friend, what is God calling you to say “yes” to? In what ways do you need to respond to God with a heart-felt, “I am the Lord’s servant”? Though the thought of the price may be daunting, I want to remind you:
Miracles happen when people say “YES!” to God.
Mary’s “yes” welcomed Jesus into the world. Jesus, the One who lived a perfect life and paid the ransom for our sin, was mothered by a young woman who had the courage to say “yes” to God’s plan. Let’s pray:
Jesus, would you give us the same courage that allowed Mary to say “yes” to God’s plan? Make us bold and strong just like this courageous parent. Shape our hearts into a place where being the “Lord’s servant” is both our calling and our joy. Amen.
My friend, is there a “yes” waiting for your courage and confirmation today? Be like Mary, and get in agreement with God’s plan. It all begins with the first step of faith, and I know you can do it!
Just like Mary, don’t forget, my friend…
You are a miracle!
Your friend,
Grant

About this Plan
Easter is a wonderful time to reflect on what happens when one person says “yes” to what God calls them to do or believe in the moment. The Easter narrative is full of examples of those who said “yes” who we can look to. When we say “yes”, we get to witness amazing things.
