Waha Disciple Making ChallengeSample
What Does it Mean to Make Disciples?
Disciple-making is a gradual, relationship-driven process where we rely on God to guide conversations, moving naturally from casual interactions to deeper spiritual discussions, rather than rushing the journey or forcing decisions.
Today, you’ll learn to share your faith naturally and peacefully when the opportunity arises. Yesterday, you made a list of people far from God and prayed for them. Now, we’ll explore how to build those relationships in a way that feels natural, without pressure.
Read Matthew 28:18-20
Take a moment to consider these questions:
- Are disciple-making and evangelism the same thing?
- How does Jesus define making disciples?
- Whose responsibility is it actually to make disciples?
Stepping Into the Conversation
Consider this analogy: Imagine a man meets a woman and immediately asks her to marry him. How would she respond? I'd guess not very well! Relationships take time before reaching that level of commitment. The same is true when introducing people to Jesus. If we pressure someone to follow Christ right away, it's likely they won't respond well or just say "no." There’s a natural progression in relationships. To help guide this process, let's use a tool called the "Conversation Quadrant," which outlines how to we can pray through and move from casual conversations to discovery conversations:
Casual Conversations
These are everyday, light exchanges. While casual, be aware of opportunities to guide the conversation to something more meaningful. Pray for God to open doors for deeper discussions over time.
Meaningful Conversations
Meaningful conversations go deeper, focusing on things that truly matter to the person—whether it’s a challenge they’re facing or something positive in their life. Ask God for the opportunity to gently transition these discussions toward spiritual topics.
Spiritual Conversations
This is when the conversation turns toward God or faith. It could be an opportunity to share how your faith impacts your life or to discuss their spiritual beliefs. Pray for wisdom as these conversations unfold.
Discovery Conversations
In discovery conversations, you share something specific from the Bible, like a verse or a personal insight from scripture. This is where the person begins to explore God’s Word for themselves.
What You Can Do RIGHT NOW
Take your list of people from yesterday and place each person into the appropriate quadrant based on your recent conversations with them. Keep the conversation quadrant visible to remind you to pray for these relationships. Ask God for opportunities to guide conversations into the next quadrant. As conversations progress, adjust your quadrant and continue praying for guidance. This tool will help you stay intentional about sharing your faith in a natural way.

About this Plan
Making disciples is a familiar yet misunderstood concept. Many feel that they lack the right gifting or personality to do it. However, disciple-making is not simply evangelism or a church program. In the Waha Disciple Making Challenge, we'll hear stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things for God’s Kingdom. Through scripture, we will discover what disciple-making means, then end each day with a simple, low-pressure action step.
