Waha Disciple Making Challenge

DAY 2 OF 7

How to Get People Asking You How to Be Saved

Making disciples can seem intimidating at first. If only it were as easy as getting someone to ask you what they must do to be saved! Today, we explore the idea of being spiritually conspicuous.

Read Acts 16:25-34

Reflect on these questions:

  • Have you ever had a moment when God broke through, and you were convinced He is real, like the Philippian jailer? Who did you talk to about it, and why?
  • How do you think the jailer knew to ask Paul and Silas about salvation out of all the prisoners?
  • What does this passage teach us about making disciples?

When Sharing Your Faith Feels Intimidating

Does sharing your faith feel challenging? You’re not alone. Most Christians today are afraid to share their faith. Many of us wish making disciples was as easy as it was for Paul and Silas in Acts 16, when the Philippian jailer asked, “What must I do to be saved?”

But what if it could be that easy?

Spiritually Conspicuous

Consider the jailer’s experience: An earthquake ripped the prison walls, and the cell doors miraculously opened. God was on the move, so who could help him make sense of it all?

Probably the two guys who stayed up all night singing hymns despite being imprisoned.

Paul and Silas did what Jesus taught them, standing out as followers of God. They were spiritually conspicuous.

This happened to Arnold in today's video. His encounter with believers who prayed for his coworker led him to discuss spiritual things at work. When his manager became curious about the Bible, she went to him.

One Simple Step You Can Do Right Now

Think about the people in your life who are far from God. How many of them might see you as a source of spiritual guidance? It’s okay if you feel a little convicted; you’re not alone. But you can turn things around!

Start by making a simple list and asking for God to move.

In your journal or on a separate piece of paper, list the people in your life who are far from God. Pray for each of them by name today. Keep your list in your Bible or somewhere you’ll see it regularly. Alternatively, make a list on your phone and set daily reminders to pray. As you pray for these people, and God draws them to Himself, being a spiritually conspicuous person could lead them to look to you for spiritual guidance.

About this Plan

Waha Disciple Making Challenge

Making disciples is a familiar yet misunderstood concept. Many feel that they lack the right gifting or personality to do it. However, disciple-making is not simply evangelism or a church program. In the Waha Disciple Making Challenge, we'll hear stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things for God’s Kingdom. Through scripture, we will discover what disciple-making means, then end each day with a simple, low-pressure action step.
