Are you giving God room to move freely in your life?
I had a plan for my life planned out for the next couple of years. I knew how I would get from point A to point B. I was set, I was determined, and no one was going to stop me. What I didn’t realize was that I was trying to give myself a purpose. I was being the God of my life. After changing careers a few times, I realized I had no real clue what to do with my life. I knew I had all these dreams and desires, but I didn’t know how God wanted to use them. It was exhausting being the one who controlled the wheel behind my life. I never involved God once in any of my career decisions, and I never asked him what he wanted for my life. I found myself burnt out, frustrated, exhausted, and bitter, wondering why things were not working out for me. I stopped believing altogether that God had a plan for me and that my time had passed. I thought I ruined things for myself. It’s a good thing that God even includes our stubbornness in his plans and makes all things work together for those who love him!
I focused on my relationship with the lord when I entered the church community. I allowed him to pour into me, uproot the things harming me and holding me back. I gave him room to work in my life. Again, I had my own plans of how I was going to do church which was to volunteer and not attend service. While volunteering, I quickly made friends, and the next thing I knew was they were inviting me to service. Long story short, I am now deeply involved in my church! It took me a while, but eventually I got there. Over time, the lord was asking me to take small steps of faith, which led to him asking bigger things of me. Simple acts of obedience result in God moving mightily! I was always nervous but mostly excited because I couldn’t wait to see what the lord would do next! It was like dancing to a new song with him: I didn’t know the song, never knew the steps, and yet he was patient with me, just asking me to follow him.
Friends, I encourage you to pray and the lord which areas of your life you are not letting him move freely in. I will pray that you would surrender and that you would desire his will over yours. His plans are not to harm you! Hold steadfast and let him help you, one step at a time!

About this Plan
Growing up in a dysfunctional, broken family and being in and out of foster care has affected many areas of my life, including my relationship with God. It stopped me from joining a church community and pursuing everything that God wanted for me. If you find yourself lost, wondering how to step into the church community and have a relationship with God, you found the devotional!
