Engrained in Church

DAY 4 OF 7

How God sees me

I had a difficult time looking at myself in the mirror every day because of the pain that stared back at me. I thought I was strong by myself, carrying all the pain inside, and I thought I was fine, but I wasn’t. I neglected to care for myself spiritually, physically, and just in general. This was due to my own biological mother neglecting me first, which caused me to do the same to myself. I was groomed, sexually exploited, and sex trafficked, all between the ages of 5 and 16. Because of this neglect and abuse, I stopped loving myself altogether. I didn’t believe that I was worth protecting, that there was little value to me. I got so comfortable with the same broken record that I didn’t dare to play a new record.

Friends, Your injury does not make you less worthy! It is time that you come out of that grave that you have called home for too long. The same spirit that rose Jesus from that grave lives in you! You are God’s beloved, and you are so precious in his sight. You are the temple that Jesus chose for this holy spirit to live in. God wants you to see yourself the way that he does: fearfully and wonderfully made. I pray that any lies that were spoken over you break in the name of Jesus because his word triumphs over anything that contradicts HIS truth over you. Your Abba (heavenly father) is overprotective of his children and you are one of them. Leave the vengeance to the lord. We must be willing to let go and forgive. We have to let what Jesus did on the cross for us be bigger than what someone did to us.

God is our wonderful counselor! Ask him how to let go and surrender those things at his feet.

About this Plan

Engrained in Church

Growing up in a dysfunctional, broken family and being in and out of foster care has affected many areas of my life, including my relationship with God. It stopped me from joining a church community and pursuing everything that God wanted for me. If you find yourself lost, wondering how to step into the church community and have a relationship with God, you found the devotional!
