Daily Prayers for Mornings

DAY 9 OF 10

Rest for the Soul

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn for me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." MATTHEW 11:28-29 ESV

No one can deny that life is often exhausting. Maybe even this morning you struggled to get out of bed after a long week. There is a never-ending list of to-dos—jobs to do, people to see, errands to run, work projects to complete. Often we feel the heaviness of the world, the cares and concerns of people we love, and the burden of our own internal struggles. But we have hope! We follow a Savior who knows of our sorrows. He can empathize with our pain and weariness. He promises that in Him, we can find rest. And not just the rest that comes after a nice, long nap—no, the rest that produces peace and stillness deep in our souls. So what do you need to do this morning to invite Jesus to carry your burdens? How can you release some of the weight you are carrying and lighten the load? Don’t let another minute pass without experiencing the lightness of Jesus.

Lord Jesus, thank You for offering to carry our burdens. Thank You that You came before us and experienced the trials of this world. Thank You that there are no burdens too heavy or overwhelming for You. Thank You that I can trust You with even my heaviest concerns. Give me the strength to ask for help and the humility to admit I cannot do it alone. And then, Lord, let me rest in the care and help that You offer. Give me a taste of supernatural peace and rest. I offer You my burdens. Amen.
