Have you noticed that some people who are most able to give are least likely to? … and those who have their own problems and concerns are the most generous? When Paul was writing to the Corinthians he was writing to a wealthy city. But the believers Paul used as an example in giving were facing tough times in much smaller, struggling towns. Nevertheless, they had already taken up an offering for churches in need. How do you respond when God asks you to give?
Prayer: Dear Lord, I admit I sometimes would rather hold on to what you’re asking me to give away. You have blessed me with abundance. I want to be generous in giving to bless others. Show me how best to share your blessing with those around me. Help me not to hold back. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
