Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 11Sample

Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 11

DAY 19 OF 22

Today’s chapter is 2 Peter 1, and today’s verse of the day is:

2 Peter 1:3: "By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence."

Everything you need to live for and serve God has been given to you!

This scripture is so rich in meaning that I want to invite you to take time and journey through it.

The first thing to note is that:

1. God did it all!

Salvation is a gift for everyone, should you choose to accept it. This is also not a gift that God ever withdraws, and through it, he also provides abundant provision of what we need to live for God. This only happens through an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. All of this is done on our behalf and there is nothing we can do to add to it.

The second thing we learn is that:

2. We grow through dedication.

Although justification requires no participation on our part, godliness is not without effort. It is because we have God’s power working in us that we have the courage and boldness to add to it our own efforts, not as works but as an outflow of our love for Christ. God has given us many promises; now we give out of our energy and dedication.

The Christian life is largely a matter of having fellowship with Jesus Christ, laying hold of God’s promises, and becoming partakers of that divine nature by growing in our knowledge and understanding of what God has already done.

Can you accept that there is nothing you can ever do to earn salvation?

In what measure do you bank on the promises of God?
