Husband Study Challenge: A Plan for WivesSample
Today you are going to study where your husband might need some acceptance. Many men crave acceptance and respect. Many men greatly fear rejection and disrespect. We see this again clearly in the specific call in Ephesians for wives to respect their husbands. The Scripture demonstrates that husbands and wives have different needs, and therefore, different ways to give and receive love.
So, I doubt that the idea of “brotherly love” that Romans 9 references, is something you’ve craved in your marriage, but it is instructive to look at the active commands throughout this passage. These are intentional action steps. I love the call to “outdo one another in showing honor,” and that is something we can certainly look to do for our husbands.
Today your challenge is to pray and ask God: where does my husband need acceptance in this season? How can I help him feel loved, accepted, and respected? Then listen to God, pay attention to your husband, and discern what God might be telling you.
You can also ask your husband:
- Do you feel accepted?
- Where do you crave acceptance?
- What is something you want to be accepted for?
- Do you have any fears of rejection in this current season?
- Do I ever make you feel rejected?
- Who do you want to accept you? In what ways?
Challenge: Pray or ask your husband about ways you can accept him better. Then write your husband a text or note to tell him some specific things you admire about him.
Prayer Challenge: Ask God: where does my husband need acceptance in this season? Pray that you encourage him well.
