Finding True PeaceSample

Do I need to love rules?
My friend, her husband, and their three children returned to the United States after spending several years in Ireland, Italy, and Costa Rica. As expected, it was a challenging transition for the kids, who knew more about living overseas than in America. Even going to the local pool was a challenge.
After being yelled at by a lifeguard for running, one of her sons said, “America has a lot of rules.”
When you’re not used to certain rules, the first time you meet them will not feel good. Everything in us will want to rebel or point out the problem with the rule. Yet, we do know that logically, rules are for our good.
It’s the same way with God’s instructions for us. Some will not feel good at first, but the Bible promises us peace if we live within them.
Act
Make a list of your least favorite rules, from traffic signs to airports. Then write next to them how they are helping you and others.
Pray
God, I don’t always like rules, but I know that they were made for our good. Help me learn to love your instruction. I want the peace that follows.

About this Plan

If there is one thing this world never offers us, it’s lasting peace. The peace you need, the kind that’s lasting and deep and eternal, is only available by believing in Jesus who died on the cross to bring us close to God. In him you'll find true, lasting, perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3).
