Praying Scripture Over Your Husband

DAY 5 OF 5

A Real Gentle Man

Being gentle is not a trait that feels very masculine. But the truth is, it's very underestimated for its power. According to Proverbs 15, gentleness can turn away wrath far more quickly than words of anger or power ever could. As a wife, I'm sure it's not a question as to what you'd rather see more of from your husband, his anger or gentleness. A gentle husband is a true gift to his family.

The struggle is that gentleness is not easy to live out. This world, your husband's career, the people he must deal with, or specific situations naturally bring out more frustration and irritation than gentleness. Therefore as a wife, you must pray for your husband, as God's chosen one, to put on a gentle spirit, turn away from the temptations of frustration or anger, and respond with kindness and gentleness instead.

Your prayers for your husband will always be treasured, and they will always be honored by the Lord. I hope over these five days, you've experienced your heart softening towards your husband as you've lifted him to the Lord. You can do nothing more powerful for him than to continue bringing him to the Father.

Let's Pray:

Lord, thank you for the gift of gentleness as a Fruit of the Spirit, a gift that my husband has within him. I ask that you help him live out his life with a gentle spirit, one he speaks over his family and all he interacts with. May he live so differently than others around him that his gentleness will point others to you. I also ask that you help me have a gentle spirit and desire to continue to be a wife that faithfully prays for him. In Jesus' name, Amen
