DAY 14 OF 21

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NAS) He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Part of the New Creation is the fact that we have taken on the Righteousness of God in Christ. In other words, through what Jesus did on the cross for us, taking all our sin upon Himself, we who have received Jesus as our savior have been made righteous through Him. He has paid the full penalty for our sin and His righteousness has now been given to us.

The Amplified Classic says it this way. For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

The King James says, “That we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” The word “made” there is “Ginomai“ which means, “to begin to be, to come into existence.”

We are not becoming righteous; we are the righteousness of God in Jesus. We don’t grow in righteousness; we are fully righteous because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross for us.

This is who we are! There is nothing we can do to earn this righteousness; it is what Jesus did for us. We are endued with His righteousness. That is all part of the New Creation! The word “endued” means to be clothed with! How awesome is it that we are clothed with His righteousness as if it were our own.

Your affirmation declaration for today is… I am the righteousness of God in Jesus right now! That is who I am, not just what I have, it is who I am!
