Precious Moments That Count For Eternity

DAY 79 OF 366

Death Before Promotion!

Most of us are afraid of the word ‘death’, as it has a negative connotation and implies something bad. But that’s not the case always. Recently, I understood the meaning of today’s Scripture. We all love promotions, favor, wealth and positions of authority and leadership. Seldom do we understand that all of the above are given to us by God for one purpose – to do good and serve His people. We need to have this kingdom perspective and nature – that promotion truly comes from the Lord. We do not need to roam with a neon sign stating ‘Notice me’. It’s God who notices and blesses us, if we do not keep the blessings for ourselves, but have the heart to give all of it away.
Moses, Joseph and David were promised promotions by God Almighty Himself. But, it did not come about till they faced the death of their dreams and promises. Their wilderness and prison experiences, I’m sure, made them doubt if the Word was even from God.
But soon after they died to all forms of self and went about doing their everyday business, after immense breaking, God promoted them. They did change history – not for themselves, but to serve the people God placed around them – country, kinsmen and family.
What are we using our position, promotion and favor for? To enjoy it all by ourselves? Or to share and give away to bless others? Even when it means we have or leave nothing for ourselves?
It’s in this death that we actually get new life for ourselves and to give more to others!

Prayer
Lord, help us not be afraid of failure or death of a dream, knowing that it is You who can bring life to every dead situation in our life, and breathe success into it. Amen.

About this Plan

Precious Moments That Count For Eternity

It is our prayer that it will reveal to those who don’t know Jesus Christ, that there is a Creator and Maker of this universe, the only loving and powerful God who longs for a personal relationship with every human being. We pray that these daily readings will remind us all of the great hope and abundant joy in knowing Jesus Christ, through whom we have eternal life!
