Precious Moments That Count For EternitySample

Trust in His Outstretched Arm
As I was meditating on this verse, and why the need for an outstretched arm, there were a few thoughts that ran through my mind. God is all-powerful. He created heaven and earth, all the creatures and man by just speaking the Word. So was it difficult for Him to carve out a nation without having to use an outstretched arm? Of course, not!
Why then, does the verse refer to an outstretched arm? I looked into the Bible and did a little research. The word ‘outstretched’ is used 18 times in the Bible. Of these, 17 refer to God’s outstretched arm. All of them refer to the works He has done in bringing Israel out of slavery and bondage from Egypt.
The scriptures tell us that this refers to God’s redemptive power (Exodus 6:6), nothing being too hard for Him (Jeremiah 32:17) and that His mercy endures forever (Psalm 136:12).
All the references are, however, only in the Old Testament and they all point to the work of the outstretched arm when Jesus was crucified. There is no mention of outstretched arm in the New Testament, since the work was completed by Jesus on the cross. As Jesus said, “It is finished” (John 19:30).
Beloved, God does the same work today for us. Acknowledge His omnipotence, trust His mercy to deliver you from every trial and terror, and expect redemption.
Declaration
God’s mighty and outstretched arm will never fail me.
