Precious Moments That Count For Eternity

DAY 32 OF 366

Set Your Love on God

Scripture teaches us of God’s love toward us and His promise to those who love Him. He is so pleased with His children, whose hearts are set on Him and who acknowledge Him in all their ways that He desires to protect them and keep them from all harm.
When we love God with all of our heart, soul and strength, this promise applies to us too. We don’t need to strive to love God. God is love, and He teaches us how to love. In fact, He demonstrated love by sending His only Son, Jesus, to die in our place. The only reason we can ever love is because He first loved us.
So, how do you know if you really love God? The answer is found in John 14:23a (NIV), Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. How true! Don’t we often obey our parents because we love them and can trust them? Don’t we listen to our friends, sometimes, because we know they want what’s best for us? It’s the same with God. He desires to have a relationship with us, where we obey His commands, not out of compulsion or fear, but because we truly love Him. God loves it when His children obey His commands out of a free will and He goes out of His way to get them out of trouble.
When we obey and honor God in our everyday life, we can enjoy His promise of protection. We can be sure that His eye will always be on us and that He will protect and rescue us from evil.
Don’t be ashamed to acknowledge Jesus before men; confess Him as your Savior and Lord, and He will deliver you from the snares of the enemy.

Prayer
Father God, I thank You for Your love and protection. Help me to always keep my heart set on You as I abide in Your love and obey Your commands. Amen.

It is our prayer that it will reveal to those who don’t know Jesus Christ, that there is a Creator and Maker of this universe, the only loving and powerful God who longs for a personal relationship with every human being. We pray that these daily readings will remind us all of the great hope and abundant joy in knowing Jesus Christ, through whom we have eternal life!
