Good Friends Make You Grow

When you find yourself in a soup, need advice or simply need to talk, don’t you often run to your friends? They’re the ones who are there for you in times of trouble. No matter what stage of life you are in, your friends play a big role in it. In fact, Proverbs 27:17 (ISV) says, Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens a friend’s character. That’s why it’s important that we choose our friends wisely.
At several stages of my life, I’ve had friends who were a bad influence on me. They did not make me better. I developed bad habits, lying ways and a weak character by hanging out with them. These friends had a strong worldly influence over me. It made me despise God, the Word, the Church and godly people. I eventually got back to God after a very long time, and some terrible mistakes, failure and shame.
Thankfully, I have also had friends who’ve influenced me in an extremely positive way. They helped me grow as a person and developed good character in me. They not only were with me in the bad times, but also encouraged me through them. They even corrected me in love.
Do you have godly friends who can speak into your life? Thank God for them! If not, ask the Holy Spirit to give you friends, who will uplift and not pull you down. He will surely send the right friends your way who won’t lead you astray, but journey with you and help you fulfil your God-given destiny!

Prayer
Lord, I ask You to bring godly friends into my life, who will help me grow, and take away the ones who don’t. Help me value the good friends You have given me and may I influence them positively too. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
