Precious Moments That Count For Eternity

DAY 193 OF 366

Faith Leads to Victory

The event of the walls of Jericho falling down stands out because God’s people emerged victorious when faced with an impossible situation. Although God had promised to give them the Promised Land, the mighty walled city stood in their way. Unless they found a way to bring down those walls, the city could not be taken. If the city was not taken, the Promised Land would never be theirs. There was one important fact: it was physically impossible to bring down those walls. Jericho stood between them and all that God had promised. A smart man would say, ‘no way’ and walk away. Yet God’s people won a great victory that day. How did it happen? By faith.
Things often move very slowly. What we thought would take weeks, takes months. And sometimes months turn into years. Our enthusiasm wanes and we feel stuck. Our curiosity turns to skepticism and we become critical. Eventually, doubt replaces faith. Often, God lets us struggle and sweat, so that we learn to trust Him at a deeper level than ever before. Most of us spend our days looking at walls of impossibilities. When God wants to do something big, He starts with something small. God loves to start small because then, He can show His power in a mighty way. When He wants to do the miraculous, He starts with the impossible. The real battle of Jericho was not with the Canaanites. It was in the hearts of the people of God. We just need to have faith. So don’t give up, because victory is on its way.

Prayer
Thank You Jesus, because through You there is victory. Give me the faith to trust You for the impossible and depend on You. Amen.

About this Plan

Precious Moments That Count For Eternity

It is our prayer that it will reveal to those who don’t know Jesus Christ, that there is a Creator and Maker of this universe, the only loving and powerful God who longs for a personal relationship with every human being. We pray that these daily readings will remind us all of the great hope and abundant joy in knowing Jesus Christ, through whom we have eternal life!
