Precious Moments That Count For EternitySample
The Spirit Gives Life
Jesus was speaking about the Holy Spirit, who was yet to come, and the way to receive Him. Jesus went back to heaven to be with His Father, and thereafter the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit. In Acts 3:19, Peter amazed the crowd as he spoke powerfully, telling them that unless they repented of their sins and believed in the Lord Jesus, they would not receive the Holy Spirit. When he finished speaking, people were convicted of the truth and 3000 believed in Jesus and received the Holy Spirit that day.
In John 7:37,38, Jesus was at Jerusalem at the Feast of Tabernacles. He said “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” Jesus was speaking about the Holy Spirit, who would indwell, empower and refresh all those who believed in Him.
We are called to be extraordinary people as we walk with Christ. Jesus calls us ‘the light of the world’ and ‘the salt of the earth’. People watch the way believers in Jesus are: totally honest and refusing to bribe and cheat. Believers pray and lay their hands on sick people and they recover. Others are attracted to believers because of the Holy Spirit in them. Which employer would not want such people working for them?
Would you like to be a part of this powerful and adventurous life? The benefits are two-fold. As you receive Jesus Christ into your life, you will not only be saved and receive His Holy Spirit, but you will also be a blessing to other people with the power of God operating through you. What are you waiting for?
Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, I believe in You. I repent of every sin of mine. I believe You rose from the grave on the third day. I receive You into my life as my Lord and Savior. Please baptize me with the gift of Your precious Holy Spirit, so I can live the life that You came to give me. Amen.
