Precious Moments That Count For Eternity

DAY 125 OF 366

Standing in the Gap

God chose Moses to deliver His people, the Israelites. There was a plague in the land and people were dying. There was no way to stop it. The only way to put an end to this plague was to stand in the gap. So, Moses asked his brother, Aaron, who was the priest, to stand in the gap. He asked him to take a censer, put incense (symbolic of worship) in it, along with fire (symbolic of the Holy Spirit) from the altar, and hurry to the assembly to make atonement for the people. Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the midst of the assembly, and immediately the plague stopped.
Today, there is a spiritual plague. Many are dying and going into a Christ-less eternity, into a bottomless pit, into hell. But God has given us the answer. We are called to put an end to eternal damnation by interceding in prayer to God for these people. It is an unselfish act, of pleading with God to have mercy on the lost and saving them. Sometimes, it involves repenting before God on their behalf, so that God can work for their good and save them. Like Aaron, we are royal priests (1 Peter 2:9) and God’s vessels (censer) with the fire of the Holy Spirit in us.
God has empowered us with the gifts of worship and unselfish prayer, to stand before Him so that the generations that are going to hell can be saved. God is looking out for worshippers, who have a heart for the lost. Are we willing to be such intercessors and see the lost being saved?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the privilege You’ve given to me, to stand in the gap for the salvation of souls. Help me to intercede and to see many of those in darkness come into the light. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

About this Plan

Precious Moments That Count For Eternity

It is our prayer that it will reveal to those who don’t know Jesus Christ, that there is a Creator and Maker of this universe, the only loving and powerful God who longs for a personal relationship with every human being. We pray that these daily readings will remind us all of the great hope and abundant joy in knowing Jesus Christ, through whom we have eternal life!
