DAY 4 OF 4

Dear Friend, Imitate What Is Good

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God. 3 John 1:11 (ESV)

In this chapter, Apostle John testifies about two men, Gaius and Diotrephes.

The first thing John says is that he desires Gaius to enjoy good health even as his soul prospers. Gaius shows faithfulness to the truth and is a man of love even to strangers. Gaius is generous in supporting other missionaries who have gone out for the gospel's sake.

Diotrephes, on the other hand, loves to be first. He does not respect spiritual authority. Not only does he not welcome John, but he also spreads malicious nonsense about him. Diotrephes is selective in church membership and would stop brothers who want to join and cast them out of the church.

What is Apostle John’s counsel? Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good.

Prayer

Abba Father, may we diligently seek You and imitate what is good. Let us be Your light to shine before others so they may see the good deeds and glorify You Father in heaven. In Jesus' most precious name, Amen.
