DAY 2 OF 4

Love One Another

We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. 1 John 4:19-21 (ESV)

We are found and saved by God; we are very precious and important in God’s eyes. We are loved by God and united with God. This love should strengthen us and motivate us to truly love one another. God loves us so we can love others with the same measure as we have been loved. Love in our hearts makes it easy for us to notice the unnoticed, love the unloved, and live in harmony with everyone. We are liars if we say that we love God but don’t love the people around us. Let this truth and understanding give us strong reasons to love others and to please God with our life.

Prayer

Father God, thank You for loving us. Show me how to share Your love with the people You bring into my life. I pray Your love would glue us together so we can truly become one in You, and everyone will see that we are Your disciples. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan

Through the Bible: 1 2 3 John

The communities Apostle John pastored were filled with internal dissensions, false teachings self-claimed to be from the Spirit, and fake Christians who had depraved lifestyles. John wrote these letters to call readers to focus on the truth, discerning between the true and false teachings and between Christian and un-Christian behavior. The church door is open to all, but having the discernment to single out the pseudo-Christians is especially important.
