I love this promise in Matthew so much! The promise that if I am yoked to Jesus, His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. When we are yoked with Jesus, notice that He doesn’t say His yoke is balanced or perfect. He says it is easy!

Our teachers’ work will be easy when we are yoked with Him because Jesus shares the load with us. It will feel easy because it fits well, just for us. I want you to picture a yoke that has been custom-fitted just for you.

Jesus was a carpenter, and a carpenter in Nazareth would most likely have had personal experience in hand-carving wooden yokes. If so, Jesus would have ensured that the yokes he worked on fit well and were shaped and suited to the individual animals.

Sister, Jesus has made a custom-fitted yoke just for you as you stand in front of your students. Your work becomes easy and light when you stay yoked with Him. If your school day feels especially heavy, perhaps you have yoked yourself to something else. His yoke is just waiting for you. He promises that it’s easy.

Dear God, thank You for custom fitting me with Your yoke. Help me to remember to stay yoked to You, and when the worries and burdens of this world begin to weigh me down, help me to find rest in You and Your promise that Your burden is light. I love You so much. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
