5 Daily Devotions to Encourage TeachersSample
Lesson plans. There. I said it. If asked their least favorite part of teaching, I am willing to bet most teachers would say it’s lesson plans. Here’s the thing. Sometimes you can have the best-laid plans, but your students take you in a different direction.
Sometimes you can teach your guts out, covering everything in your plans, and your students will still bomb the test, misbehave, or disappoint you. Or, sometimes, you can be so focused on covering all of the content in your perfectly crafted lesson plan that you miss the opportunity to see a child who’s hurting or needing some extra attention.
That’s why it’s important to commit your work daily to the Lord, above and beyond your lesson plan. Surrender your agenda, lesson plans, and desires, and ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. If you define success as obedience to the Spirit rather than perfect test scores or behavior, your job as a teacher will be so much more fun and fulfilling.
Dear God, help me to commit my work to You daily. Help me to surrender my agenda and instead to establish my plans in You. I want to follow You, listen to You, and obey You. Give me eyes to see the child who needs me to be Your hands and feet to them today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan
Whether you are a classroom teacher, homeschooling Mom, Sunday School teacher, or small group leader, I want to share what a good friend reminded me when I packed up my classroom. “We are all teachers. We define our classrooms.” No matter what your classroom looks like, I pray these daily devotions will encourage you and strengthen you as you fix your eyes on the ultimate Teacher.
