Daily Bible Reading – September 2022: "God’s Renewing Word of Wisdom"Sample
September 19
Introduction
Today’s reading is a royal psalm that was probably used when a new king was inaugurated. Each king was known as God’s “son” (2 Samuel 7:14), an indication of the king’s role as God’s agent. As one who is chosen (verse 2), the king is God’s anointed one whose royal authority is a divine gift.
Scripture Reading
Psalm 2
Today’s Key Verse: Psalm 2:11, 12a
Serve the LORD with fear; tremble and bow down to him.
Reflect
The opening verse of Psalm 1 (from yesterday’s reading) and the concluding verse of Psalm 2 serve as a framework for describing the true source of happiness. What did these two psalms teach you?
Pray
Holy God, teach me to follow you all the days of my life. I find true joy and happiness in studying and obeying your Law. Help me to serve you always. Amen.
And now, join us in thanking God that believers in Angola are now receiving their own Bibles. Gracious God, for many believers in Angola, obstacles often come between them and the chance to hold and cherish their own Bibles. A lack of infrastructure, along with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, has made it difficult for your Word to reach small towns and roadless areas, along with those in distant regions. Thanks be to you, Lord God, that the generosity of supporters is enabling faithful believers in Angola to receive the Bibles they yearn for, strengthening and practicing their faith and connecting with your Word. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Psalm 14: A psalm describing human wickedness.
