Where is God right now? Sometimes we picture God very far away—way up in heaven. It’s not hard to imagine Him there—surrounded by angels, floating around in the clouds in some mysterious place far away from earth. I mean, we think of Him that way. We think of Heaven that way. And when we think about that, we might start to think our lives can’t really matter to the God of the universe. He created everything! He’s way up there. Here I am down here. Does anybody even see me, and how can He see me if nobody else does? We can think, wow…compared to His greatness and glory, we are so insignificant. We’re like a little ant. Smaller than an ant! But, guess what. That is not the case at all! That is not how God sees or thinks about us or interacts with us.
Scripture tells us that God is close to us. He says, “I am closer than a brother.” And he already knows us even better than we know ourselves. He even sees the secret, hidden places of our hearts—things we tried to hide or wish we could forget. We have these little secret rooms, and we think, “We’ll keep that little door shut.” But He knows. He sees, and it’s beautiful, though that can be kind of scary. But, He shares our joys. Think of that. He shares your sorrows, and He knows every moment, every detail of our lives because He cares about you. He cares about you deeply. His whole creation is precious to Him, but we are His most treasured ones. The Bible talks about it. We are His beloved sons and daughters. Of all of His creation, humanity is the thing that He clearly loved in a very special way.
So, have you been longing to feel truly seen and known in that way? Well, that is a longing that God put in your heart. He made you that way, and He wants to fulfill that longing.
So, listen to what Jesus says in Matthew 10:29–31. It’s about how well He knows us, and how much the details—even the little details of our life—they matter to Him. Listen…
What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? Not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are numbered (to Him). So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
Friend, that’s the Word of God, and if you’re feeling distant from God, run into His arms today. These are His promises. He wants you to experience his nearness. He’s reaching out to you right now. He sees you. He knows you. He is listening to your heart’s cry. Right now. He is not far off.
Pray with me right now, and we’ll declare this truth together…
Lord, no one knows me like You know me. No one knows me like You do. You see every part of me because You created me. You understand me absolutely completely because You are, like, my author. If I was a book, You had written it all. You know my deepest pain and the wounds of my life, and You hear my cries. And You share my joy. And You share my grief because You dwell inside me. These great promises from Your Word, Lord—I want to understand them more. And I want You to guide my every step because I know, and I put my trust in You, that You care about me. And that You crafted me in Your very own image, even! Because You honor me with that kind of love. Oh, thank You, Lord. I love You, and I’m Yours forever. In Jesus’ name, amen. Amen!
God knows you, and you matter to Him!
