Overcoming FearSample

Where Is Your Trust?
Who are you afraid of in your life? Perhaps your boss is very intimidating, or there is someone in the neighborhood who is always meddling in everyone's business. When we base our peace and our identity on the opinions of others, we set ourselves up for a lifetime of fear. We can waste so much time trying to please others that we get totally off track and miss the purposes God has for our lives.
However, this verse is a great reminder that when we trust in God instead of people, we are always safe. God loves us unconditionally and always—at every moment and in every situation—He has our best interests in His mind. While trying to please others can ensnare us, doing our best for God always brings blessing.
1 John 4:18 says, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear." When we trust in the Lord's perfect love, we experience joy and peace no matter what happens with the people in our lives.
As you engage with God’s Word:
● What is God saying to me?
● What does it mean to me?
● How can I apply what God is teaching me?
● How can I be specific in prayer today?
After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
