What is our inheritance?

God will never grow weary of you. His love is everlasting, slow to anger and abounding in mercy. He does not want anyone to perish but to repent and change their minds. God wants us to understand we need to change our life to become children of God. Because you are His child, God gave you resources—the same inheritance as Jesus. Scripture says that a good father leaves an inheritance to his children. God the Father is a good father, so He has left us an inheritance. We must find out what it is so that we can enjoy it. 

When you hear the news that you are an heir, you don’t just sit around and not find out what you inherited. You want to find out what your inheritance is. We need to discover all the wealth that has been given to us in Christ. Therefore, we need to search the Scriptures where all the treasures and resources in Christ that God has given us as sons are hidden. 

What you have in your spirit is not the work of any human being. The development of your spiritual life cannot be done by any religion. This can only be done by God. No religion can produce life; it is not the work of teachers or any human person, but God.

If salvation is not a human work, there is nothing any of us can do to obtain it. If salvation is not earned by works, neither is it maintained by works. However, we were all saved not by works, but to produce the works of God, which are the fruit of His life in us. We do not do works to try to earn God’s favor, but because we have God’s favor already. We do God’s work as a result of His favor in our lives. 

That is why everything comes from God. Merit does not belong to us; it belongs to God. It is not up to us to decide when it begins or ends; Jesus is the Author and the Finisher of our faith. Christ is the main Actor who finishes the work. What merit can we have? None. Before we were born, He predestined us; in life He chose us; when we were His enemies, He reconciled us; when we were not interested in Him, He loved us; when we fled from Him, He sought us, when we were lost, He found us; when we were guilty, He forgave us; though we were sinners, He justified us; when we were corrupt, He regenerated us; and when we were weak, He sustained us.
