"Reset My _______"Sample
Reset My Understanding
There’s a well-known verse in the book of Proverbs that goes like this:
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.
It’s easy to say we believe in Jesus, but it’s a lot harder to “lean not on our own understanding.”
Jesus encountered a lot of people—some who got it and some who didn’t. He tells a story about three servants—two who got it and one who didn’t.
Right after telling this story, Jesus goes into Jerusalem where He’s cheered by the crowds like a king. But at the end of the parade, Jesus weeps. Why?
Because they were worshipping based on their understanding, not His. They didn’t truly trust His plan but their own idea.
It’s almost like Jesus is saying, “This isn’t going to end the way you expect.”
When our idea of God doesn’t match up with reality, we tend to get angry or frustrated. But is that God’s fault or ours? We often decide who God should be before meeting Him ourselves.
Today, ask Jesus to change and grow your understanding of Him. Ask Him to reset your understanding.
