Real Hope: Our Lives God's StorySample
Get And See
A great challenge to believers and non-believers alike is the question – ‘Does the Gospel (the Good News of Jesus) really work?’ People want to know if God’s promises and eternal salvation are real.
This is what Jesus came to demonstrate to His disciples. In the Scripture above, in a story set between Jesus’ imminent betrayal and the Last Supper, we see how clearly self-aware Jesus was and how focused He was to His calling and ministry.
I now ‘get’ the example of Jesus. Sometimes pure theology is beyond my grasp until I ‘see’ in the Scriptures what Jesus is doing and connect the dots back to the theological truth that He is pointing me to. The change comes about in that, like Him, life is no longer about being self-pleasing, but rather about asking what does God require of me? I can get on and concentrate on what God has called me to do.
Having eventually come to this position, I find my life is automatically filled with all those promises that Jesus made, as St Peter wrote – ‘Jesus Christ, whom having not seen, you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory’ (1 Peter 1:7b,8 NIV).
I am amazed that this previously unspiritual country boy now understands and experiences what Jesus Christ said in the Bible as my daily reality. If He did this for me, He can do it for you too.

About this Plan
Our lives are the books the world will read. But all in all our prayer is that our lives are inevitably seen as a living letter from the King of Kings to His beloved people. A letter wrapped in the story of our lives that is evidence of a God who is working in every situation and circumstance. This life we live isn’t ours – it’s His.
