The Space Between

I could tell you many stories of God at work.

Many stories when God showed up in a way that screams of His love for me.

Many stories when God extended grace to me. Many stories when God showed kindness to me. Many stories when His mercy washed over me day after day. Many stories when God knew my needs before I did and had a solution already on the way.

Many stories when, if it were not for God, I would have drowned, fallen, crashed, burned, come undone and met my ruin.

But no story so beautifully illustrates the grace, love, mercy and kindness I live under than the space between a breath. That space where the decision of should I draw in again is utterly dependent on God. That tiny pause I pay little attention to, so trusting am I that my lungs will take another breath, contains the greatest story of all.

For without His decision to breathe into me again, there would be no other story to tell.

No pause, no moment, no word-filled story could speak so loudly of His grace, kindness, compassion, mercy and above all else, His love for us, then… that gap between breath leaving our dust-made bodies and His breath entering us again, bringing us to life once more.

No, I do not need to tell you stories of how God has shown up in my life because the most profound story of the Almighty God we serve is the one found on your lips, between a breath.
