Hearts of Faithfulness

Would the 40 Roman soldiers remain faithful to the bitter end? During the winter of 320AD in  Seveste, modern day Turkey, 40 brave men refused to make offerings to the Roman pagan gods. The governor first baited them with promises of reward and promotion if they would deny Christ. This was of no avail, so he threatened their lives. “For the love of God,” they professed, “we are prepared to endure any kind of torture.” Steadfast in their commitment to pledge their allegiance only to Christ, they were stripped, bound and led out to a frozen lake of ice. Supposing that the men would recant, warm tubs of water were placed around the lake. One weakened soldier did crawl to refuge, only to die instantly when his body was shocked by the heat. Running out to the ice to take his place, however, one of the guards cried out, “I am a Christian!”. The 40 faithful soldiers for Christ gave their lives and received their heavenly reward. Even when the persecution they face does not amount to death on ice, may students and staff stand faithfully for Christ.

Today, as we continue to pray powerful prayers to impact the hearts of our school communities, we trust God to bring a movement of students and staff who will faithfully pledge their lives to Christ.

Praise God, Who is Faithful!

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23 

You are deserving of praise, God, for great is Your faithfulness. You are loving and compassionate and You fulfill Your promises.

Pray for Faithful Hearts

“Be sure to fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart. Consider what great things He has done for you.” I Samuel 12:24

Lord, amidst the challenges we have experienced, would You create hearts of faithfulness, as students and staff grow to understand how great and consistent Your love is. Raise them up to be models of faithfulness, especially where they have not seen this example.

Pray for Faithfulness in Families

“Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you...” Proverbs 3:3

God, we ask You to bring a fresh revelation to each family about what it means to be reliable and faithful. Strengthen marital, sibling, and parent-child relationships. Break the dysfunctional patterns handed down from past generations and create new, loving connections. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
