DAY 17 OF 20

What do we do with the people who seemingly hate us for no reason? Okay, maybe we’ve given them a reason somewhere along the way. We’ve apologized seemingly a thousand times, but we tend to assume that they have built up a wall of bitterness and won’t let us in by not responding to us. When we are quick to assume we are not at fault, we may unknowingly blame the person who is hurt. It is important, in this case, to give them time.

There are some times where people dislike us for a variety of reasons, none of which are our fault. No matter what we do, we can’t make them like us. So what’s left for us to do? Well, the writer of Hebrews gives us an entirely different take on the situation - we can only do our part. We can’t control how someone else feels about us. Our responsibility is to be warm, humble, forgiving, and show them the love of Jesus. Basically, we have to let it go and let love win out. Radical people do their part to live at peace with everyone.

How can you seek peace in your friendships today?

About this Plan

Rad

Jesus had a lot to say about love, but not everyone loved him. Instead, Jesus’ opponents hated him, attacked him, and saw him as extreme — a radical. And they had a point! The things Jesus taught about loving God and others challenged the status quo. In this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll look at four ways Jesus invites us to love others according to his revolutionary example.
