DAY 15 OF 20

Having fun with our friends can be a great way to make memories. We’re hanging out, laughing, eating some of our favorite food while playing some of our favorite games. It’s at this moment when we start to feel comfortable with each other. The stress of our day begins to melt away. We get excited about our time together and what’s happening in our lives. And that’s when we start letting our guard down and begin turning our verbal filters off.

We begin to jab each other a little while poking fun at aspects of our friends we “know” we can get away with. But then it happens. Someone takes it a little too far, and someone gets their feelings hurt. The dynamic of the conversation has drastically shifted, and now we have to do damage control. But what if we flipped the script and were more intentional with what we said to each other? Language matters. Words have a lasting impact on us, and our goal should be to speak life to each other. Radical people seek to encourage, not tear each other down.

Who is someone you can send an encouraging message to today?

About this Plan

Rad

Jesus had a lot to say about love, but not everyone loved him. Instead, Jesus’ opponents hated him, attacked him, and saw him as extreme — a radical. And they had a point! The things Jesus taught about loving God and others challenged the status quo. In this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll look at four ways Jesus invites us to love others according to his revolutionary example.
