DAY 2 OF 8

LEAD WITH COMPASSION

Compassion is important to God and it should be important to us in leadership.

“The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him” (Psalms 103:13 NLT). God is so compassionate towards us and His compassion is the only reason why we can come boldly before Him and experience His presence and unfailing love.

In the ministry of Jesus Christ, we see so many times in the gospel where He carried compassion in His heart for people and used parables to teach on having compassion in one’s heart. One lesson in leadership we can pull from in the ministry of Jesus was that compassion identifies the sin, but loves the sinner. Compassion understands that in order to be free from sin, you must receive Him (Christ) who is the only one who can break the curse and forgive sin.

Compassion allows you to see a need and meet the need regardless of how the need occurred. It’s having an understanding that we are the vessel for God’s love to flow through us and we should desire to be that vessel. Leaders are vessels. Having compassion in leadership is a characteristic that only flows and grows from abiding in the love of God. When compassion is in our hearts, it manifest itself with acts of love that don’t flow from a judgmental place, but from a place of empathy.

Having compassion is obedience to the father and we should love and desire to please Him, especially when we are leading those He loves. Having compassion is what we are called to have in our hearts and showing compassion is what we are called to do. Lead with compassion.

“By this we know [and have come to understand the depth and essence of His precious] love: that He [willingly] laid down His life for us [because He loved us]. And we ought to lay down our lives for the believers. But whoever has the world’s goods (adequate resources), and sees his brother in need, but has no compassion for him, how does the love of God live in him? Little children (believers, dear ones), let us not love [merely in theory] with word or with tongue [giving lip service to compassion], but in action and in truth [in practice and in sincerity, because practical acts of love are more than words]” (1 John 3:16-18 AMP).

About this Plan

SoulSister:Lead

Godly leaders don’t give in to the culture of self or this world, but take directives only from the true living God and follow the life of His son, Jesus Christ. Christ wants to be at the center of our leadership and development; character, compassion, communication, consideration, consistency, community, and the way we love, care, and serve others. Join us on this 8 day study of godly leadership.
