Surviving Dark Seasons: You Are Favored, Not Forgotten

DAY 7 OF 7

Thriving In Obscurity

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Colossians 3:17 (ESV)

Let’s talk about what thriving in obscurity looks like. Well, to be honest, it depends. Isn’t that always the most horrible reply? But the truth is, no one enters into obscurity, processes through it, or exits in the same way. It depends on you. We have identified some common factors to help you maintain the proper posture as you proceed toward the inevitable.

It is not surprising to hear people share that they feel alone or abandoned, but in order for God to do His work in your life requires the potter to go directly hands on with the clay. Even though you don’t notice His presence, God is fully present in your life.

Thriving in your walk begins with acknowledging that God is in charge. Next, it requires surrendering who you once perceived yourself to be. Willingness to walk in God’s will as understood through prayer, Bible reading, meditation on His Word, and waiting on Him to move in your life is vital. Also knowing that in order for God to do a mighty work in your life requires that He work mightily in your life. That means you are not alone and have never been abandoned. God has never been so close to you as He is in this remodeling project!

The best way to identify what gifts God gave you and how those gifts are to be applied in your daily life is to continue reading His Word daily, pressing into your prayer life, connecting yourself to people who support and affirm your faith walk, and remaining sensitive to the direction of the Holy Spirit.

In this atmosphere you will begin to reap the benefits of having progressed through your season of obscurity. Some of those benefits are:

  1. The revelation of who you are.
  2. The assurance of whose you are.
  3. The identification of personal and spiritual blind spots you were not aware of.
  4. The identification of strengths you already possessed but did not realize.
  5. The true condition of your heart, character, and faith.
  6. The maturation of your walk with Christ.
  7. The anointing of supernatural gifts.
  8. The trial-by-fire confidence leading to closer fellowship with God.
  9. The death of ourselves for gaining a new beginning in Christ.
  10. The ability to discern God’s voice as well as Satan’s deceptive call.

Well done. Now enjoy the victory and prepare to receive the gifts God has been waiting to share with you. It is going to be a blessed new season in your life.
