Creativity and InnovationSample
Designed by God
The Hebrew term ‘ex nihilo’ is a concurrence of understanding of the universe being designed by God, ‘out of nothing’. When ‘nothing’ can pitch in so much, beyond every conceivable idea of mortals, how much more can He create, when He is a part of our every aspect! Each part of His creation is a grand manifestation of Who He is, showcasing His glory.
Star differs from star in splendour (I Cor 15:41). There is no monotony, nothing mundane or routine in God’s creative activity.
The narrative goes on to say that we are made in His image (Gen 1:26), and at the cross, stamped with His seal of salvation. No man-made sophisticated camera has been able to provide the depth of perception and precision that our eyes have. Even a single cell in our body is a tiny factory that we are yet to comprehend fully. Each person is a powerhouse of God’s creative design, functioning with incredible efficiency.
But, every moment we try to toy with the idea that we are better than the others! Comparing ourselves with others is not productive (II Cor 10:12). We tend to entrap ourselves into thinking our intentions, motives, ideas and decisions supersede others. This blinds our understanding to the fact that He has knit the other person too in their mother’s womb, fearfully and wonderfully making them (Ps 139:13, 14) to be unique, special, a piece of fine art, a masterpiece (Eph 2:10). Yet, we disregard others, tending to be partial and pleasing our senses.
We hold no right to undermine or underestimate a person’s worth. In the incident of the boy with the five loaves and two fish, Andrew raises the query: ‘How far will they go among so many?’ (Jn 6:9). Jesus took whatever small and insignificant the boy offered and multiplied it miraculously to the multitude of over 5,000 men.
We should have a strong desire to offer the best in our work. Some of our work could be hard, tedious, or even requiring high skills. But, it pays to be the hardest worker in the room. These turn out to be the ones whom the world benchmarks.
How often I restrain myself from pursuing the good, better and the best in my work!
Father, mould me to allow You to create, design and orchestrate every minute detail of my life.
